Reflecting on 2017

Before I look to the year ahead, please indulge me as I take a look back and reflect on the year that has just ended.
2017 was an epic year for Mr. Brewvan and I. We kicked off the year surrounded by family and friends celebrating our wedding and my mums birthday in the Peak District, England, with a huge weekend long, house party full of twinkly lights, loved ones, bubbles 3 cakes and fireworks!!

Catching up with one of my wine drinking besties and meeting her husband and my newest mini friend (hi sweet little girl) in Germany.

I started a new business and am now the proud owner of a successful, thriving and growing beyond all my expectations…virtual franchise with the number 1 skincare brand across all price points in Canada and the USA and we recently launched in Australia (more on this later). #RFEmpower RFEmpower Not only has this brought an additional income stream into our household, it’s brought much much more. An increase in self confidence, new found and newly developed entrepreneurial skills, people skills and all the other buzz words you can think of but most of all people. This business has helped me develop better relationships with those around me and brought soooooo many new people into my life that I would never have had the opportunity to meet without this business. From customers to business partners, to mentors and to growing my own team across North America and now Australia who all have their own individual WHY for starting their own business and yet all have one common goal. The freedom to choose!
To choose how, when and where they work. To really embody working to live rather than living to work. To dreaming bigger! And to making those dreams a reality!!! Having a Plan B … it makes sense right.

I left my job as a legal assistant, after almost 5 years (my longest job to date) to take a position as an articling student (finally) so that I can once again practice law again.

My #CYP group, Group 7, WON the peer leadership forum challenge of #gvbot the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade!! Group 7 worked so hard to come up with an actionable and effective program and BEST of all I made some lovely new friends.

Mr. Brewvan and I spent our first anniversary at the #vancouverrugbysevens watching some incredible rugby.

We went to the horse races #DeightonCup and got all fancy and dressed up with dresses, big hats and flat caps;

Partied it up at science of cocktails (think cocktail tasting) at Science World in aid of raising money for programs that enable under privileged kids to attend science cap and school trips to Science World.  Went swimming at Kits Pool, a lot!! Well with this view and that weather why wouldn’t we #thelido.

Joined my first #BBGVancouver meetup and met some of my favourite #vancouverfitness women. These ladies inspire me every day and are one of the biggest reasons why 2018 is going to look different

Attended lots and lots and lots of beer tasting, including #vancouvercraftbeerweek and #hopscotch which also involved lots of yummy whiskey. Oh and did I mention we won tickets to an intimate Grand Master Whiskey Tasting Session for 4 people, for FREE!

We grew a ridiculous amount of hops which Mr. Brewvan is still turning into liters and liters of yummy beer.

September came and it saw us jetting off to Massachusetts to visit my aunt and her new home of Martha’s Vineyard and Boston. We got to visit beaches, meet a one day old Alpaca and his friends, watch sunsets while the people clapped and cheered, ate our first butter ball turkey (please try this, it’s incredible), visited Cheers and Harvard, and got to spend quality time with my parents.  There will be a separate trip report.

Had family visit from Australia and got to show them around while we played tourist.   Got on another jet plane to spend #thanksgiving in Edmonton with Mr. Brewvan’s extended family for a #familyreunion full of great food, mini golf and early morning swims with the littles.

Spent my birthday dancing to Oompah Bands, wearing a dirndl and taking photos with friends.

Finally wrapped up the year with some fun snow filled adventures!! And these are just a few highlights!! Watch out 2018 you have a lot to live up to…..
